Jon Emmett (GBR) 2008 Byte CII World Champion
September 2, 2008
Jon Emmett, sailing equally fast in both heavy and light air, scored an impressive win in the World Championship counting 12 straight first place finishes after dropping a 1 st and a 3 rd. 
Hannah Blore reprises her win in Lake Garda in 2004 to take the 2008 Women's World Championship. She finished 5th overall.

Wild Day in Weymouth for Pre-Worlds

The 2008 Byte Worlds, being sailed at the Weymouth 2012 Olympic facility, started with a bang today as the competitors went out on Portland Harbour for the pre-World’s Series in solid 24 knot winds gusting up into the higher 20s. The UK 29er Nationals are also on at the same time and their racing was abandoned when winds exceeded 24 knots (a Class Rule). The Pre-World’s was won by UK sailor Jon Emmett, with Fengyi Lei (SIN) second and Eugene Woo (SIN) third. Tom Nicholson (CAN) was fourth followed by female Singapore sailor Shevaun Sethi.
